“We entrusted our lives to you back then.” – One year after the first aid transport
A year ago, the photo was taken in front of the hotel in Poland. On this day, we had taken a total of 37 refugees from the camps on the Polish-Ukrainian border on the journey to Germany. Not all of them are in the memorable photo, but many of them are. And we have regular contact with most of them. How are families doing today?
On the road in sub-zero temperatures – visits to people with no fixed abode – expansion of projects planned
With the beginning of the cold season, teams of Menschenfreude e.V. were again increasingly on the road in Cologne and Bonn to visit people without a fixed abode. In addition to the distribution of food and winter-proof textiles, this time it was also about the idea of resocialization: so it was possible to organize a hostel for some over the Christmas days. There has also been help with visits to the authorities. Young people will soon be involved in similar projects.
The travel report: first aid transport in March 2022
The first aid convoy of Menschenfreude e.V. started on March 8 towards Ukraine. This was preceded by an unprecedented fundraising campaign with countless helpers. In the end, a team of 24 drivers set out with twelve vans to distribute the collected relief supplies in refugee camps – mostly specially converted churches. These are very moving and emotional experiences that we would like to share with you here.
