“People like you and organizations like yours are what we would need in every major city.” – Honored with Bonn Social Award

We are proud and grateful that our Menschenfreude board member and founder Jürgen Perteck was able to accept the Social Award of the Rotary Club Bonn-Rheinbrücke, which is endowed with 2,000€. Each year, the award honors outstanding personalities who are socially committed in the region and work on behalf of their fellow human beings. The award was presented by former mayor of Bonn Ashok Sridharan, who in his ceremonial speech paid special tribute to "the incredible commitment" shown "during the particularly cold phase of the year for people without a fixed abode."

And further: “Such people like you and such organizations like yours we would need also in other large cities much more. (…) If anyone deserves the Social Award, it is you and Menschenfreude e.V.!”

We are very happy about these words and the award as a team. Likewise about the friendly contact to the Rotary Club Bonn-Rheinbrücke. On the initiative of the former president Dr. Olaf Jürgens and member Stephanie Pech, we were able to present our charitable work in a picture presentation beforehand.

Prize money benefits people with no fixed abode

The prize money of 2,000€ came and goes to our projects for people without a permanent residence in the region. As early as December 2022, a team from Menschenfreude e.V. was on the streets of Bonn to support people during the cold season. The report “On the road in sub-zero temperatures – visits to people with no fixed abode” can be read here.

Teams from us were already in action in December
